The vote is in! The Lexington Department of Public Works facility was approved by the town in a debt exclusion vote on June 5th. This new complex is the first municipal project under the town’s new sustainable design initiative. The project will house the town’s Department of Public Works operations as well as municipal offices for the other town services such as planning and engineering, and will utilize sustainable design principals to maximize daylighting, good indoor air quality and reduced energy costs for the town. The new building is long overdue, as the current DPW has been in poor condition for some time. Public Works employees and Lexington residents will both be able to enjoy the new facility, which is expected to be completed by 2008.
