Salem State College, Bates Hall Student Residence
Salem, MA

HKT planned and designed this new residential complex for 354 students. In addition to residence halls, Bates Hall includes administrative offices, meeting rooms, and mail and laundry areas. The complex consists of a series of seven brick buildings clustered in an attractive wooded area. The overall character and scale of the architecture and site design deliberately blend with the campus and neighborhood. Bates Hall has become a favorite with students because of its home-like setting. Each unit is designed for six residents and contains two double and two single bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living/dining area, and kitchen.
