HKT Architects is an award winning architectural firm located in Charlestown, MA, we are in our 52nd year of business. Our work covers municipal projects such as public safety, public works and town offices as well as college/university projects, interior design, sustainable design and historic preservation throughout New England. Project Manager / Project Architect

Candidates should have strong design, technical and production skills and experience coordinating complete construction document packages. Experience in public design and construction is preferred. Experience in project management is required. Experience in construction administration is preferred. Applicants should be Revit savvy and be able to design, detail and work in a collaborative setting.

Ideal candidates should:

  • Have completed an accredited degree in architecture

  • Possess a minimum of 10 years work experience (internships not included)

  • Be a Registered Architect in at least one state

  • Be proficient in Revit. AutoCAD proficiency is a plus.

  • Have strong presentation, graphic, technical, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Have strong organizational skills and be self-motivated

  • Be able to self-check their own work for accuracy as well as checking the work of others

  • Have experience managing and mentoring junior staff

  • Be flexible and able to juggle multiple concurrent projects

  • Have a current valid driver’s license

Responsibilities would include:

  • Managing projects from study, including project definition and programming, through schematic design, design development, contract documents construction administration and closeout

  • Managing and mentoring junior staff

  • Researching materials and products

  • Developing permitting submissions to municipal agencies

  • Coordinating consultants

  • Meeting with clients, municipal boards and community members

  • Developing presentation materials including renderings and presenting to client and in public forums

  • Managing time and budgets on projects under a Principal’s leadership

  • Working in a leadership capacity to problem solve and to find creative solutions

  • Developing, building and maintaining client relationships

  • Assisting with firm marketing tasks

Senior Designer / Job Captain

Candidates should have strong design, technical and production skills and experience coordinating complete construction document packages. Experience in public design and construction is a plus, but not required. Applicants should be Revit savvy and be able to design, detail and work in a collaborative setting.

Ideal candidates should:

  • Have completed an accredited degree in architecture

  • Possess a minimum of 4 years work experience (internships not included)

  • Be a Registered Architect or pursuing registration

  • Be proficient in Revit. AutoCAD proficiency is a plus.

  • Have experience with Adobe Creative Suite

  • Have strong presentation, graphic, and communication skills

  • Have strong organizational skills and be self-motivated

  • Be able to self-check their own work for accuracy

  • Have a current valid driver’s license

Responsibilities would include:

  • Working on projects from study through construction

  • Working independently to problem solve and to find creative solutions

  • Meeting with clients

  • Developing presentation materials, including renderings

  • Coordinating consultants

  • Researching materials and products

  • Working on preliminary schematic design, and then developing documents through construction documents including detailing and permitting under the leadership of a Project Manager/Project Architect and/or Principal

  • Assisting with marketing tasks
